Set up and Customise Subscriptions
This article will guide you how to set up subscriptions for readers to access content on your website.
With FeatherPay, readers are able to subscribe to your website. With a subscription, they can access all the content that you publish – both free and paywalled!
To set up your subscription options for readers, head to the FeatherPay plugin in your WordPress admin dashboard. Here, click “Subscriptions” underneath (step 1 in picture blow).
Steps to create a subscription
a. Fill in the name of the subscription. This could be something like “Subscribe for 1 Month” or “6 Months (get 25% discount monthly)”!
b. Select your duration unit. This describes whether the subscription will be in weeks, months or years.
c. Specify the length of the subscription you’d like to offer. For instance, duration unit “weekly” with duration length “1” will offer a subscription for 1 week. A duration unit with “monthly” and duration length “6” means the subscription will last for a period of 6 months.
d. Determine the price (€) you want to set for the subscription. This price is for the total duration of the subscription. For instance, if you sell a subscription for a duration of 6 months and value it at €4 per month, you should type “24” (= 6 x €4).
By clicking “Add new” (see step 2 in picture below), you have now made a subscription option available for your readers.
Below is an example, where you can see how your admin settings are represented on the wallet:
When readers would like to subscribe, they can select their desired option. Once purchased, they can read all the articles that you publish – both free and paywalled!
What happens when I edit a subscription option?
When you want to update a subscription option, please note that the updated option will only be available after you’ve updated it for readers who wish to buy a subscription. Those who have already subscribed to your original option will still be charged the original price and maintain their subscribed status. This also applies to readers who have purchased an automatically recurring subscription.
What happens when I delete a subscription option?
When you want to delete a subscription option, please note that those who have already subscribed to that option will still maintain their subscribed status. This also applies to readers who have purchased an automatically recurring subscription.
How many subscription options can I set up?
There is no limit in the number of subscription options you can make available.
Adjust the appearance
You can customise the way the wallet looks before a reader purchases a subscription. For example, the text highlighted below:
